The Walking Dead 11(parte 3): ¿Preparados Para El Gran Final?

Después de 11 temporadas, ¿Cómo mantenés la vigencia de un producto sin perder la aprobación de la audiencia? Sobre todo si tu producto tuvo un recibimiento tan caluroso por parte del público. Sin dudas resulta inevitable que series tan extensas como «Grey´s Anatomy» o «House M.D.» transiten por ciertos periodos de meseta o «de deconstrucción» de acuerdo a los tiempos que corren.

Y a esta encrucijada no estuvo exenta la creación de Robert Kirkman, la cual en la actualidad, nos muestra que a pesar de sus pasados altibajos (no tan lejanos) ha podido recuperar su esencia y plasmarlo en un relato que nos vuelve a seducir.

El gran desafio de TWD

Cuando hablamos de reconstrucción y ajustes en el guion, nos referimos en primer lugar al reclamo por parte del fandom en cuanto a la falta de rumbo que la historia presentó sobre todo en la temporada 7 y 8, lo cual parecía anunciar que aquellos tiempos de gloria estaban llegando a su fin. Y en segundo lugar, por la retirada de personajes vertebrales, ubicando por delante a Andrew Lincoln, quien (aunque con una salida abierta) estaba dejando acéfalo un trabajo de casi diez años, donde todo giraba en torno a su mirada.

El último tramo de la serie ha logrado que el combate final se libre en distintos escenarios.

Sin dudas el gran desafío fue dividir esa responsabilidad entre los jugadores que quedaron, sin perder de vista la coherencia que el espectador merecía, en función de no forzar a ningún personaje a hacer algo inverosímil, según su línea argumental; lo cual sería sin dudas un nuevo tiro en el pie para la serie.

Pero la transición fue realizada respetando los tiempos naturales que ello requiere y durante la temporada 10 ese cambio de tono pudo alcanzar su plenitud. Aunque todavía no se le ha cedido a nadie puntual el cetro de mando, personajes como Daryl, Carol, Maggie y Negan, tienen el peso equilibrado en partes iguales para sostener los nuevos caminos trazados por la historia. Pero ahora están orquestados según la impronta de cada cual, lo que se traduce en una misma premisa: la supervivencia de los hombres que pretenden ser sometidos por otros hombres, en un mundo postapocalíptico.

Ahora situándonos en la actualidad desde donde escribo estas líneas, el relato nos posiciona justo en mitad de la temporada final, la cual decidieron dividir en tres partes de 8 capítulos cada una. A estas alturas ya hemos conocido a los miembros de Commonwealth, y visto como nuestros resilientes han sorteado infinidad de adversidades para encontrar ese supuesto momento de paz que este lugar promete. Pero el verdadero fan esta entrenado, casi programado (cual Daryl Dixon), para desconfiar de todo, para sumergirse en las propias miserias de una comunidad que esconde mucho mas de lo que promete dar.

¿Que fue lo más disfrutable?

Sin adentrarme en hechos concretos, lo que mas disfruté de la temporada 11 fue el hecho de haberse incorporado nuevamente aquella mirada filosófica de que «el hombre puede ser el lobo de aquel hombre disfrazado de oveja». Si bien es cierto que esto ya lo vimos en anteriores entregas, esta vez lo abordaron desde distintos flancos, adaptado al rol que cada protagonista ha sabido cosechar durante toda la serie: los guerreros pelearán, los curiosos seguirán sus corazonadas; pero hasta ahora todo apunta a que finalmente este relato trazado por historias paralelas, buscará fundirse en un único mensaje en búsqueda de la verdad… y de la libertad definitiva.

A modo de cierre, sin dudas el ultimo capitulo («Actos de Dios» – 11 x 16) nos dejó mas preguntas que respuestas, en medio de una batalla declarada ante dos bandos bien definidos (uno de ellos comandado por el que aparentemente será el jefe final: Lance Hornsby), traiciones y revelaciones que serán de vital importancia para que se desate la última contienda. Pero para eso debemos esperar hasta que AMC confirme su fecha de estreno (aunque se estima que esto será para mediados de Octubre de este año).

¿ Y ahora qué ?

Mientras tanto y hasta que la tercera y ultima parte de esta historia se haga presente por la pantalla de Star+, pueden seguir disfrutando de este universo a través de «Fear: The Walking Dead» y The Walking Dead: World Beyond, ambas disponibles en Amazon Prime Video.

En cuanto a lo que se viene, esperamos que el epílogo de la tercera parte de esta temporada final, esté a la altura de este largo recorrido y que por lo menos arroje respuestas sobre el paradero del sheriff Rick Grimes (quien tendrá su propia trilogía de películas) y Michonne, la dama de la katana.

Y en cuanto a los próximos Spinoff, sabemos que luego de que la historia central culmine, tendremos una nueva historia protagonizada por Carol y Daryl y otro centrado en los personajes de Negan y Maggie, el cual se llamaría «Isle of the Dead».
