Es el primer superhéroe latino de DC Film, creado por Keith Giffen, John Rogers y Cully Hamner. Dirigido por Angel Manuel Soto (La Granja), bajo el guión de Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (Miss Bala).

Originalmente pensado para HBO Max, aunque el proyecto creció escalando hasta la gran pantalla para estrenarse en cines el 18 de agosto de 2023.

La historia se centra en Jaime Reyes, un joven mexicoamericano que tras encontrar un misterioso escarabajo alienígena, adquiere una super armadura con superpoderes.

Ahora bien, el personaje de Sarandon, Kord, no se encuentra en los cómics, es una creación específica para la pantalla. Sin embargo, su nombre tiene conexiones dentro de sus cómics:

Teodoro Stephen «Ted» Kord, el segundo Blue Beetle.

Antes de nuestro héroe, había otros dos Blue Beetles canónicos: Dan Garret y Ted Kord.
