Dirigida por Peter Sollett y escrita por D.B. Weiss Metal Lords es la nueva comedia adolescente de Netflix, tiene una muy clara influencia de School Of Rock el coming-of-age rockero por excelente, en esta ocasión no tenemos un profesor con sueños rotos, pero si 2 adolescentes, inadaptados, Hunter y Kevin, para ellos el camino a la gloria es claro: dedicarse al metal. Ganar la Batalla de las Bandas. Y ser adorados como dioses.

Dio, Danzig, Ghost, Pantera, Celtic Frost, Meshuggah son algunas de las bandas que podemos encontrar en los muros de la casa de Hunter, normalmente encontraríamos posters de Iron Maiden y Metallica por qué es lo primero que les apareció al buscar bandas de metal, pero agradezco el trabajo un poco más allá de The Trooper (aunque me parece perfecto que sea parte del soundtrack).

¿Que lo hace especial?

Cinéfilamente hablando Metal Lords es una historia del montón donde vemos la estructura clásica del adolescente y su superación personal para ser mejor, ¿que lo hace diferente? su nicho hacia la nostalgia de los adolescentes metaleros de ayer y hoy, porque si tú eres un adulto que hace 10 años iba caminando con una polera de Celtic Frost por la calle esta película te va a encantar.

Nosotros queríamos ser dioses del metal, tal cual, como Hunter, solo que no teníamos batallas de bandas escolares ni podíamos comprar una batería de 7 mil dólares.

Emily es la tercera involucrada en esta historia, una adolescente con problemas de ira amante de la música clásica, hasta que conoció a Kevin y el Heavy Metal.

Tenemos cameos de Scott Ian (Anthrax), Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine), Kirk Hammett (Metallica) y Rob Halford (Judas Priest) donde tienen una conversación corta, pero clave para la historia de Kevin y SkullFucker.

Destaco la escena de persecución al ritmo de PAINKILLER de Judas Priest solo porque la encontré demasiado entretenida y Hunter expele adrenalina por los poros.

El Soundtrack está compuesto por Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Avenged Sevenfold, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Mastodon, Ozzy Osbourne, Motorhead, Pantera, Zeal & Ardor, y Guns ‘N’ Roses.

Si no te gusta el metal ni conoces las bandas que nombre probablemente encontraras esta una película del monto de esas que Netflix lanza y a nadie le importa, pero si conoces los nombres y tu fuiste, aunque sea solo un poco como Hunter, te va a tocar la fibra de la nostalgia.
