Con motivo del estreno de «Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness«, donde comparte protagonismo junto a Wanda, les dejo algunos cómics que resumen un poco quién es Stephen Strange. De algunos de estos cómics se desprenden las características que formaron al Strange del MCU, interpretado por el talentoso Benedict Cumberbatch.

Sorcerer Supreme Once More

Luego de que Strange pierde el manto de Hechicero Supremo, y este pasa a Doctor Voodoo, Stephen, deberá encontrar un nuevo camino. La historia habla mucho de la soberbia que lo llevó a estar en esta situación, pero también sobre su humildad y voluntad de tener este poder. Por supuesto, todo termina con el Doctor Strange recuperando el manto. Además cuenta con un traje parecido a una de las versiones que se vieron en el adelanto de la última película.

The Way Of The Weird

Una fuerza está tratando de eliminar la magia del multiverso y Strange debe investigar que sucede y detenerlo. Este arco narrativo explora la magia, tanto sus distintos tipos de usuarios, como los efectos que ésta tiene sobre ellos, resaltando las características propias de Dr. Strange. Es una buena manera de introducirse a este personaje por la cantidad de aventuras fantásticas que se dan en sus páginas. Es un cómic actual (del 2015) y eso también influye en cómo está escrito y el arte, lo cual también puede ayudar a atraer a un lector más moderno.

The Oath

La historia de Brian K. Vaughan y Marcos Martin comienza con un Doctor Strange herido de bala, y al mismo tiempo tratando de encontrar a quien le disparó (cosas que permite el mundo mágico). Al mismo tiempo busca la cura contra el cáncer de su aliado, Wong. Obviamente deberá elegir entre salvar a su amigo o salvar el mundo. Es un relato sobre la amistad y lo que implica ser un héroe, tener que sacrificar hasta personas por «el bien mayor». Esta es una de las historias mejor valoradas de este personaje, la recomiendo al 100%.

Eso fue todo aunque les dejo de yapa Triumph & Torment, donde Strange forma una extraña alianza con el Dr. Doom, villano obsesionado con la magia y la ciencia. Acá ambos van al mismísimo infierno a salvar el alma de la madre de Doom. Muy bueno.
