Animales Fantásticos 3: ¿Hay magia para rato?

Se estrenó este jueves y del éxito de la misma depende la cuarta y quinta entrega. ¿Valdrá tanto la pena como para que siga la saga?

Juzgada antes de su estreno por su mala predecesora, ya sin fe muchos «potterhead» van a verla simplemente para sentirse más cerca de la magia, y quienes no conocen este mundo están esperando saber si se puede ver sin haber visto las anteriores.

Nuevos personajes y un Jude Law que logra resaltar en la nueva entrega

El problema del protagonista

Partamos desde el comienzo, la primer película nos trajo tantos personajes nuevos que ya desde el vamos estábamos reacios a que nos encante. El protagonista Newt (Eddie Redmayne) tiene una personalidad que no atrapa ni al espectador más benévolo, y creo que hasta el director David Yates se dio cuenta porque en la última entrega pasó a ser alguien más secundario pero también mucho más carismático.

No todo fue negativo. Creo que dos personajes inesperados nos robaron el corazón: Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler) y su gran amor Queenie Goldstein (A Fine Frenzy) y por supuesto los animales que quedaron como recurrentes fueron un gran acierto para esta nueva saga. Ahora por supuesto no vamos a esperar el mismo éxito que las ocho películas perfectas de Harry Potter, pero si podríamos asegurar que íbamos a encontrar un nuevo fandom de Animales que siguieran a Newt y sus amigos hasta el final. Sin embargo, eso no pasó y la primer entrega fue querida pero no amada.

Poca cercanía con algunos personajes

La segunda parte creo que fue un gran error por múltiples razones, principalmente por tener a un grupo de personajes con un magnetismo similar al de una hoja de papel. Zoe Kravitz a quien pudimos ver en «Batman» con una fogosidad que encendía toda ciudad Gótica acá simplemente aparece. El hermano de Newt, Theseus (Callum Turner) nunca llegó a simpatizarnos porque no logramos conocer su historia y mucho menos entender la mala relación con nuestro protagonista.

Jude Law es Dumbledore, pero aparece tan poco que nos sentimos decepcionados al finalizar la película, y por supuesto las incoherencias del guión son aún más indignantes, como por ejemplo el cambio repentino de Queenie quien en la primer entrega era el ser más dulce y bueno de la película. Así es como llegada «Animales fantásticos: los secretos de Dumbledore» tiene una responsabilidad demasiado grande, recomponer una saga y lograr el éxito que las anteriores no pudieron.

Lo bueno: mas guiños al Harry Potter

La realidad de esta película es que hay opiniones encontradas. Aunque podemos reconocer que hay muchos más guiños a Harry Potter y eso la hace por lo menos más entrañable para gran parte del público. Dumbledore aparece en todo su esplendor y Newt es un personaje que en cada escena aporta algo interesante (el baile es una de las mejores escenas y se agradece). Ahora bien, la pareja que hace con Popertina acá ni siquiera tiene lugar. Esto fue una gran estrategia pero creo que perjudica a la saga, aunque los nuevos personajes podemos decir que son más agradables y atrapantes.

Una película que aporta más risas pero también más oscuridad deja varios puntos inconclusos y ni hablar de ciertas escenas que no tienen mucho sentido. Sí, «Animales fantásticos: los secretos de Dumbledore» cumple bien su papel de mejorar la saga y dejarnos conformes con varias resoluciones, con un Mads Mikkelsen como Grindelwald que realmente sorprende gratamente con su papel y con un mundo mágico que todavía tiene mucho para dar, ahora si podemos decir que se está poniendo a tono con nuestras exigencias, veremos que les depara el destino a Newt y sus amigos en los próximos años.
